BSA releases nine new decisions today
The Authority released decisions on 10 complaints today, three of which were upheld. Two of the complainants raised issues regarding their treatment by a radio host on-air. The Authority found the broadcaster’s treatment of the individuals breached the fairness standard and that the action taken by the broadcaster to respond to the complaint in the first instance was insufficient to remedy the breach of the standard.
One of the complaints related to a radio interview with the CEO of the UK’s National Institute for Health Care and Excellence (NICE). The Authority upheld the complaint under the accuracy standard. The Authority found the broadcast was misleading as it omitted relevant contextual information when drawing comparisons between NICE and PHARMAC.
