BSA releases four new decisions

The BSA today released decisions on four complaints, three relating to television broadcasts and one relating to radio, none of which were upheld. One complaint related to comments made during a radio talkback segment on Sportstalk, when host Mark Watson criticised the British and Irish Lions rugby team and said he hoped they would ‘get smashed’. The Authority did not uphold a complaint that these comments were highly offensive, noting that these comments would not have been outside audience expectations of a sports talkback programme, and the free and frank expression of opinions is an important aspect of the right to freedom of expression.
