Authority releases five new decisions
The Authority released decisions on five complaints today, with no complaints upheld. One complaint concerned a panel discussion on The AM Show, featuring panel guest Dr Don Brash. The panel discussed Dr Brash’s views on the use of te reo Māori in broadcasting without translation. The Authority noted that the panel discussed a topical and legitimate issue in New Zealand and it was important to hear differing points of view on this issue. The item therefore had value in terms of the right to freedom of expression and was not unbalanced or unfair to Dr Brash.
