Summary A psychic involved in a private search for two missing Blenheim friends in the Marlborough Sounds expounded her theory on how they had died in an item on One Network News broadcast on TV One on 10 April 1998 between 6. 00–7. 00pm. Ms Gendall complained to Television New Zealand Ltd, the broadcaster, that it was offensive and unnecessarily distressing to the families to have the psychic offer her "grisly conclusions" as to how they had died. She also considered that the credibility of the psychic should have been questioned. The comment, she observed, had not been included in the later evening news bulletin. Summary An episode of The Way We Were, dealing with New Zealand’s involvement in overseas conflicts, was shown on TV One on 13 January 1998, beginning at 8. 00 pm. Part of the narration included the words, "the Brits let us down", in an aspect referring to the fall of Singapore and Japan’s expansion into the Pacific during World War II. Mr Nichols complained to Television New Zealand Limited, the broadcaster, that the statement, which he had heard as "let down by the Brits in 1941", was factually untrue and inaccurate, and a gratuitous insult to a friendly country. Summary "Aleppo to Aqaba" was the title of the episode of Great Train Journeys broadcast on TV One at 8. 30pm on 20 January 1998. On behalf of the Wellington Palestine Group, A Sidani complained to the broadcaster, Television New Zealand Ltd, that the programme breached the standards relating to accuracy and balance by including a map which showed Israel as including the Occupied Territories. In response, TVNZ pointed out that Israel was named in only one of the three maps shown. However, it acknowledged that in each map the boundary of Israel did not allow for the Occupied Territories and, accordingly, TVNZ upheld the complaint about inaccuracy. Although the programme was already dated and unlikely to be rescreened, TVNZ said it had made arrangements for the matter to be tagged for attention should it be rescreened....
