Liberation Talkback was broadcast on Radio Waatea between 8. 00pm and 11. 00pm on 18 November 2002. [2] Colin Ellis complained to Radio Waatea, a radio station broadcast by UMA Broadcasting Ltd, the broadcaster, that the item was unbalanced, "anti-Pakeha", contained unsubstantiated allegations and promoted racial discord. Summary [1] During a discussion of the terrorist attack in New York City on 11 September 2001, a host of the talkback station, Radio Pacific, was said to have stated on a number of occasions that Osama bin Laden had nuclear weapons and that New Zealand was a likely target. Mark Madigan wrote to the host disputing this claim. He provided sources for his view that, even if bin Laden had nuclear weapons, he would not be able to use them....

SummaryHost John Banks described parking wardens as "low lifes" in his programme on Radio Pacific broadcast on 26 August 1999 at about 8. 15am. Adele Baulch complained to The RadioWorks Ltd, the broadcaster of Radio Pacific, that as a former parking warden she found the comment objectionable. She sought a public apology from Mr Banks to all parking wardens in New Zealand. The broadcaster responded that no malice had been intended by the remark but admitted that the host’s language had been "a little strong". It apologised for distress caused to the complainant, and declined to uphold the complaint. Summary Host John Banks abruptly cut off a caller to Radio Pacific on 28 August at about 6. 22am, saying that he had used a four letter word. A few minutes earlier, he had referred to a woman caller as a person who lived her life in abject misery. Mr Reardon, the caller who had been cut off, complained to Radio Pacific Ltd that it was an absolute lie to state that he had used a four letter word as could be verified by a copy of the tape. In his view, this and the other incident he described demonstrated that the host’s manner was an appalling insult to talkback tradition. Radio Pacific explained that Mr Reardon had been cut off accidentally when the Panel Operator pushed the wrong button....
