According to the items, illegal sellers were evading tax, and people who bought cars from them were not covered by consumer protection legislation. Summary A hidden camera was used on a Target programme broadcast on TV3 on 9 July 2000 to assess whether a car’s wheel alignment had been properly carried out. The footage broadcast included pictures of the outside of the business premises, and members of the staff dealing with the customer. Chris Clarke, the proprietor of Action Auto Services, complained to the Broadcasting Standards Authority about the broadcast, arguing that the filming had been carried out unlawfully on his premises. SummaryMore than 20 promotions for Lion Red beer were screened during Lion Red: The Game, broadcast on TV3 between 8. 30–9. 30pm on 6 August 1998. On GALA’s behalf, Mr Cliff Turner complained to TV3 Network Services Ltd that the broadcast breached the requirement in the standards to minimise the promotion of liquor. The guidelines to the standards, he wrote, suggested that liquor promos should not exceed one every three minutes during the full viewing period. Taking into account the titles, the supers and the Lion advertisements broadcast during the programme, TV3 upheld the complaint that incidental liquor promotion had not been minimised. The titles and the supers had since been altered, it advised, to remove the actual Lion Red logo. Summary An episode of Target broadcast on TV3 on 28 November 1999 beginning at 7. 00pm featured six florists who were graded on their ability to complete an order. Ms Newcombe and Mr Hall complained to TV3 Network Services Ltd that the broadcast had portrayed their business unfairly. They alleged that a number of broadcasting standards had been breached both by the broadcast and the preparation of the programme.
