Fischer and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-130

Promos for AO programmes Plainclothes, Boomerang and The Seekers. Two of the promos showed a woman striking a man and the third referred to domestic violence. Not upheld (good taste and decency, discrimination and denigration, responsible programming, children's interests, violence).

O'Brien and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1995-131

Holmes. Programme showed a controversial advertisement about French nuclear testing, which had not been accepted for broadcast by TVNZ. Not upheld (good taste and decency, children's interests).

Newstalk ZB afternoon show. Caller expressed his anger that, following the break-up with his partner, he had been served with an order to attend an anger management course. Manpower Australia. Documentary featured a touring show of male strippers. Not upheld (good taste and decency, discrimination and denigration). Not applicable (balance, responsible programming).

3 National News. Item about a pro-abortion campaigner included scene in which a woman was undergoing a physical examination in a medical clinic. Not upheld (children's interests). Subsumed (responsible programming).

Rape Prevention Group and 6 Others and SKY Network Television Ltd - 1995-116–1995-125

Basic Instinct. Film contained a violent sex scene and a scene showing explicit sex with bondage ending with murder. Upheld (good taste and decency): only the time the opening sequence was screened (10.15pm on 20 March and 8.30pm on 31 March). Order (publication of  a brief summary of decision).
