Mix 100 FM news. Report broadcast on two days that a furniture retailer in Tauranga was unable to continue trading. According to the story, creditors had been advised that the owners were selling their home and every attempt would be made to pay its liabilities. Not upheld (good taste and decency, privacy).

Conway and TV3 Network Services Ltd - 1996-115, 1996-116

3 National News. A man was killed in a motorcycle accident at about 12.30pm. A TV3 camera crew was on site and the death of the motor cyclist, who was not named, was reported in the 6pm news that evening, which was before police were ready to release the name. Items dealt with events in the Middle East; one item showed a map which referred to the Security Zone in Southern Lebanon but another item which covered the peace deal between Israel and the Hizbullah did not mention the arrangements for the Security Zone. Free FM Radio

Fair Go. Programme examined the insurance implications resulting from damage caused to a parked car by a person who died while driving another car. Examined from the point of view of the car's owners, who had only third party insurance and found they were not able to recover the cost of the damage. Upheld (fairness). Subsumed (balance).
