Morning Report, Checkpoint. Discussions about "green" politics on Morning Report and of the Labour Party's release of its environmental policy on Checkpoint. The Green Party complained that each programme omitted the significant views of the Green Society. It requested the material used by RN to determine the significance of views. Durham and Groen and Channel Z Ltd - 1997-185, 1997-186

Channel Z breakfast show. The host and MP Pam Corkery told jokes about the Princess of Wales soon after her death. Not upheld (good taste and decency).

Barker and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1997-187

Shortland Street. Episode depicted the attempted murder of one character by another. Children's interests, violence, law and order. Not upheld.

Dawkins and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1997-188

The Ricki Lake Show. Programme showed a group of partly clad men parading in a "Hottest Hunk Calendar Search" in front of a predominantly female studio audience. Complaint that it was a demeaning and intentionally sexist contest. Not upheld (good taste and decency, discrimination and denigration).

AGCARM and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1997-189

Rubber Gloves or Green Fingers. At the conclusion of the documentary, presenter chaired a studio discussion about the issues it had raised. Complainant (who took part in the discussion) complained that it was unbalanced, that the benefits of organic farming had been expounded by denigrating traditional farming methods. Not upheld (balance).

The Alliance and Radio New Zealand Ltd - 1997-190

The Week in Parliament. The programme carried actuality of the Treasurer's (Hon Winston Peters) attack on the Alliance, and included the response from Labour MP Michael Cullen. The Alliance, it was reported, had joined in the attack. Not upheld (balance).

Lord and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1997-165

Telecast of rugby test. Complaint about obscenities in players' language and gestures. Not upheld (good taste and decency, law and order, responsible programming, children's interests).

Moore and TV3 Network Services Ltd - 1997-166

3 National News. Item about the11th Spring Carnival at the Remarkables Skifield showed some shots of a woman skiing topless on a skifield. Not upheld (good taste and decency, responsible programming, children's interests).

Sorrell and Radio New Zealand Ltd - 1997-167

Roger Hall's play "C'mon Black". Obscenity used. Not upheld (good taste and decency).

Terry and Television New Zealand Ltd - 1997-168

One Network News. Complaint that item was unbalanced as it did not include any comment from the spokespeople of the other parties in the MMP Parliament. Declined to determine (balance).
